The thoroughbred horse dominates Kentucky's landscape, from the iconic twin spires of Churchill Downs to the statues found on the city streets of Lexington and Louisville. While the images of racing icons have come to symbolize the Commonwealth, the significance of horses and the horse industry in the state extends far beyond thoroughbred racing.

University of Kentucky to Establish First of Its Kind Monument Workshop

Two longtime faculty of the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law recently received a $2 million grant from the Mellon Foundation to establish the Monument Workshop. With this grant, the Monument Workshop will provide interdisciplinary experts, outside artists, and local community leaders with the support and legal assistance necessary to create more complete stories of what the Commonwealth has been and what it can be in the future.
