Law Student Research Articles and Memoranda

The historic preservation and dynamic nature of monuments and memorial sites often give rise to a host of legal issues. Awareness and understanding of the legal framework surrounding these issues helps communities to strategically approach monuments and memorials more efficiently and successfully. To that end, law students at the University of Kentucky Rosenberg College of Law were asked to research various legal topics related to monuments and memorials and to draft articles and memoranda summarizing their findings. Education is integral to the purpose and success of The Monuments Workshop. This element of the Workshop is intended to educate the students who researched and prepared the articles. Still, it is also designed to serve as a resource for anyone interested in or seeking guidance on monument and memorial-related information. The articles below range from fun Kentucky historical facts to discussions of relevant statutory, regulatory, and case law.

Articles in process. Coming January 2025
